Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which organizations can participate?
A: Any tax-exempt organizations that meet a few simple requirements – click here for details (and to sign up!)

Q: On the day of the event, do parents need to supervise?
A: The event organizers are not providing childcare or supervision, so please check with the coordinator at your organization/school. This is a family event so we encourage you to participate with your child.

Q: Is there an entrance fee?
A: No, however all participants are expected to get at least $100 in sponsorships.
Note: There is a “$5 carbon offset fee” for parking at the Festival. This is waived for walk-a-thon participants.

Q. Is the 5K course strenuous?
A. The 5K course is primarily on a well maintained dirt road that runs up and down through stunning redwood forests and passes vistas to the Monterey Bay. Sturdy walking shoes are a must. The 10K or 15K options simply involve doing the 5K loop two or three times.

Q. May I bring my dog? May I ride my bike?
A. We're sorry, but no pets are allowed on the course. This is also true for any wheeled conveyance such as bicycles, skateboards or skates. This is for everyone's safety.

Q. Do I need to bring my own food and water?
Please bring a re-fillable water bottle. There will be several hydration stations and one nutrition station on the walking route. Food wil be available for purchase at the Festival.

Q:  How can I make a pledge by check?
A:  Please make your check to "Mount Madonna School - Summit" and write the hiker's name on the comment line of the check.

Mail the check to:

MMS Summit Fund
